5 Software Engineer Productivity Tips that Got me Promoted FAST
Hi KJ! I hope you're doing well as you read this. I have been a viewer since you were an undergrad at MIT. I wanted to reach out to you and ask you if you would be willing to get in touch with me and help me understand how I can improve my chances of being admitted into Stanford for grad school and a masters in computer science. I have certain unique circumstances that keep me more anxious than confident about my goal. I would greatly appreciate your time and help amidst your busy schedule. Thank you.
Your videos helped me to find my way at engineering with focus and goals. thankyou. Keep strong🙏👍
Kj really i dnot how thank you for great inspirati me by your development sense 2020 till now
First
Hi all! Thanks for watching. I'll stick around for a bit to chat with you in the comments below 👇
whats the software you use for your routines
I use Google Calendars and Notion, mostly
but how i will be like you regardless I'm not from U S the all my dream Just one day i will be they thank so much for you and your clsmate that you study together at standford iam still waiting for every new videos Good bless
Could we get some info on what a "cloud distributed application" would look like?
It was a great video though
You should to make some real life vlogs
Great to see you back and healthy brother!
Is there anything you'd add to pros or cons? Let me know down below! 👇
I think samsung note perform better in term of camera performance. As s10 plus makes brighter pics and soft ones. Note9 captures close to nature.
We really missed them duce drone vlog when is it coming back?
absolutely incredible
The #1 mistake you see? Or that you saw on the internet and are now making a video to pretend you saw? You're fresh out of college. You aren't interviewing anyone lmao. Clout chasing for dumbasses.
is this guy indian or black?
Super important lesson. Wishing you the best!
Great video!!
I relate to this a lot man. I used to have a similar mindset to you where I thought I would derive all my happiness from being passionate about my career and at the top of my industry, but now that I’ve actually been in the workforce for a while, I realize that it’s only one part of life. Relationships, health, and experiences are just way more important in the long run.
Exactly… I’m curious how many years it took for you to realize? And was there any specific event that caused you to rethink things?
@@KJHardrict I think I started to realize when I got my first internship after junior year… and then it really set in once I started my first full time job. So about a year or so. Idk if it was anything specific, it was just a gradual process of me realizing that work was not making me happy.
That makes sense. Thanks for sharing!
KJ you really did incredible things in life i hope one day i will be like you
You inspire me, KJ
Thank you. I’m grateful to be in this position to
Sometimes it’s hard to maintain a healthy social life with work you’re passionate about. I’m glad you’re doing well.
Definitely inspired me, nice video
What inspired you, specifically about this video?
@@KJHardrict You seem to be stable despite juggling family, a spouse, a career, and a passion. I’m inspired to achieve the same!
Would you please give some info about your lighting setup in your work room
Great video as always!
Wishing you best of luck in the future. Proud of you.
love from kashmir india
had you studied about aerospace engineering before getting into MIT? I mean like books for example "Introduction to Flight" by John D Anderson
Yo I have a B.S. in aerospace engineering, and got my first job as a software engineer, but I kinda hate it (coding was my least favorite as a student). I need some help figuring out my next steps... Maybe more details about flight engineering? Maybe more hands on roles?
hi i am from developing country in Asia so I do not have any international awards but i have national awards and good leadership experiences do you think i have a chance to select to us uni
They look humongous
I think this job is made for me
Small talk, even just via text, with coworkers helps the social issues. I could go the whole week without talking to anyone be we frequently talk in chat.
Perfect job for an introvert
Thank you for sharing your "internal thought process" in navigating your career. Oftentimes, we start something but have to "pivet" to something else. This is not a failure. This is adjusting to the ups and downs of life. You are very lucky to have the support of your parents, family, and friends as you maneuver your professional career. With all your professional planning, I hope you can SOON "put a ring on it." It is time! I wish you a future of good health, happiness, and continued professional development.
Hello friend, Good topic that you talked about in your video👍😁, I am from Peru y I would like to go to study at MIT. Could you give me some suggestions please? Thank you.
Literally same story as me. Studied aerospace engineering then i switched to Devops & Cloud Engineering
Bro no offense but AEROSPACE FROM MIT >>>>> SOFTWARE ENGINEERING.
I'm a software engineer and I doubt my career choice now. Not sure if its a good career move. If money is not the factor nobody would look at CS just like Aero Space Engineering.
Are you satisfied and happy being alone?
Hey KJ...I had a doubt regarding a course...I just graduated my high school in INdia and am planning to do btech In ICT from one of the top colleges of India...ICT course is a mixture of ECE and comp science,Will I face any difficulty In applying for my masters in comp science in US...btw love your content
I highly doubt after the completion of either of those Indian programs you will have issue getting into a US masters program. Your Indian programs will probably be as rigorous as most US masters programs.
@@codejunki567 will I face any problem to get into masters in cse in us...My degree is not fully CSE it is a mixture of cse and electrical engineering
@@maandesai52 I can't speak for all degrees/universities but I have personally worked with multiple people from india who have there BTech from home in India and also gotten into/completed Masters Computer Science programs in the USA. So I would assume it would be similar for you to apply since your degree will be, technical and relevant to a Masters in Computer Science.
@@maandesai52 Also I was able to get into a Masters Comp Science program with only a BCIS (Business communication information systems) degree, which isn't even in the engineering school.
@codejunki567 ok...thanks for helping ❤
Graduated in 2020, slowly entered SWE, senior in 2024….got it. Conclusion is that senior means nothing anymore 🫶
I recommend checking out my video titled “My Salary and Career Journey as a Software Engineer” to hopefully gain more insights into your conclusion! Leading the product development of a couple VC-backed SaaS startups in 4 years adds a lot of tools to the toolkit in a short amount of time 🫶🏽
good stuff, but ur bio is blocking the subtitle,u might need to move it up abit
I just graduated with my B.S. in Biochemistry (also minored in CS). For my CS minor I had to take digital systems and architecture as well as computer organization with Assembly. Those two classes were my favorite I ever took in college. This made me realize that I’m really into hardware so now I’m heavily considering getting a second bachelor’s in Electrical engineering.
Well best of luck with whatever path you choose
nice to hear the other way around , I m a computer science engineer and after being so tired of writing code I m trying to transition into aerospace engineering have been following you since your channel started .
What intrigues you about aerospace?
@@KJHardrict i have been working at CERN for quite a while now and was doing a lot of numerical simulation . Cern also tends to have a anti matter detector on space station which I have partially worked on. A lot of technology and tools that we use here for research were only possible because of space sciences and hence my motivation started to leave my comfort office and start my masters in space engineering
@ankurgiri7589 that’s great! I wish you the best in your endeavors
@KJHardrict tysm keep making these awesome videos😌🌻
Great video as always KJ, keep it up
Thank you! 🙏🏽
Thanks for sharing! I've been following you since your MIT days, and I thought diving into hardware and embedded systems would be awesome. So, I pursued Mechatronics Engineering, thinking it would give me a taste of everything. But, as you mentioned, I ended up facing the challenge of not being fully competent in any major path with having to deal with hardware supply shortages. It wasn't until after graduating last year that I realized my true focus was always on Software Engineering, even during my mechatronics degree and now pursuing software engineering wholeheartedly.
Well best of luck to you in your journey!
*fairy lady swirls down* Have you ever considered writing your own hardware-level coding language?
Honestly, I have not. Maybe in the future? 🤔
@@KJHardrict :) Why not? You're trained in aerospace engineering, you're a software engineer, so, while I dunno if you are about grad school, or if you wanted something to do, I dunno, inventing a low or mid-level hardware language that could be used to interface new types of computers with aircraft or spacecraft would be cool. I dunno, you're not convincing me that you're not bored. Hope you are inspired to stay hands on with your work, something super challenging...quantum computers are going to need new hardware languages so they can interface with technology, you know?
To the comments that say they don't have the extra money laying around - I don't think this advice is for you if you don't have disposable income. Advice is taken and applied with the context of your situation - this is sound and amazing advice for anyone that DOES have disposable income. Nice job :D Also stop being so salty yall LOL
Easy for the guy who has $5k to invest every month and still have money left over.
With what extra money? I can barely justify visiting my family once a year let alone a real vacation.
